Let's Play Announcement: Stardew Valley

Hello, and welcome back to The Game Professor! Today I’m writing to you to give you and update on the next game we’ll be playing over on YouTube: Stardew Valley. One thing you’ll find on my channel is that I don’t usually play the newest games around—at least for now—and although this one isn’t exactly old, it has been around for a few years. I will be playing the most updated version (as of now, version 1.4), and if the next update comes out while playing we will keep going without any issue.

I also wanted to give you a bit of an overview as to why I’m going to be playing this game in particular, and that is quite simply I’m working on a paper on it. As I mentioned in my welcome post, I do hope to take this work to academia eventually, and that requires writing academic papers on games. The topics I’m focusing on are pertinent to much of what’s happening right now in regard to the environment and monopolization within much of the economy.

I won’t spoil anything right now, just in case anyone hasn’t played or seen anything about Stardew, but suffice to say that we’re in for a fun jaunt away from the hustle and bustle of modern living, taking a step back to a simpler approach.
